Eoghan is a Director within the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment and is Head of Unit with responsibility to oversee Trade Sanctions Policy and Enforcement and Export Control Compliance and Enforcement. He has led this new Unit since 2023, bringing increased focus on international engagement within the EU and with other partner countries.

Eoghan chairs the Sanction Taskforce, a cross departmental group working on multiple strands on sanctions enforcements. A key priority for Eoghan is for the trade aspect of sanctions to be fully implemented within Ireland and engagement to increase and deepen with other jurisdictions and supranational organisations such as the European Commission.
